Sitting near the boarding gate at the Jaipur International Airport, impatiently waiting for my flight to arrive. My face dug in the book I was reading, occasionally distracted by the people walking by and the chitter chatter around. The lady announces that the boarding gates are open for my flight, I clumsily took 1 boarding pass in my hand and shoved the book in my bag and started walking towards the gate. Nicely seated and buckled up, I stare outside the window and ponder about the past couple of months and smile…
Few months back I found myself browsing through numerous travel blogs, flipping through every travel magazine I got my hands on, participating in the travel chats on twitter and picturing myself at every other beautiful location that I came across on Instagram.
So one fine day I decided I want to travel! Don’t know where; I just wanted to see the sun set in a totally different county, to breath air in another land, to taste diverse flavours and just be awed by how everything is the same yet different! Hence, began the process of asking all the people I know and figuring out a common date, a common place of interest, a common budget and a common everything! And it was too late when I found out that I was never going to go place if I waited for someone to come along.
But, somehow I still wanted to be able to say “Wow, I can’t believe I just did that” instead of wishing for it. As they say life has a way of finding you with exactly what you need (Or maybe that’s just what I think). I don’t know what hit me, but I chose a destination, booked the tickets and broke the news to my family – I am leaving for Vietnam after a week! It sure came as a shocker to them, but what the hell. I had decided what I want to do and no force could have made me cancel my plans this time. Because sometimes it is okay to defy logic and go for what your heart says and maybe, just maybe it would turn out to be the most logical decision ever; as was in my case.
“..We hope you had a pleasant flight, thank you for flying with us” I had reached my destination, and it was time to explore. There was a restlessness in my heart, I was still smiling because in that moment when my anxiety and anticipation were tangled I realized all I had to do was pick a destination, book my tickets and go for it- with or without anyone! Yes, all it takes is the will- to do it and the want- to go for it.
Happy Travelling!

Could totally relate to this. Seriously, it’s so difficult to find ‘a common everything’ due to which in the end one just ends up not going. It’s always easier to just pick up your bag and go! 🙂
